Who doesn’t love cute little raccoons? Make this fun raccoon keychain with a little cord and pony beads. Its masked face, striped tail and little legs give the finished design plenty of character.
This beaded raccoon makes a great summer camp, classroom or group craft and is perfect for animal and woodland critter lovers. Attach it to a key ring, backpack, bag or zipper pull, make several to share as handmade gifts, or use them for school, club and group fundraisers.

Googly eyes are also known as wiggle eyes, and not all of them have to be glued in place. While the familiar flat-backed versions can be glued onto a project, some wiggle eyes have a shank on the back, much like a button, so they can be sewn onto fabric and other materials.
2. Begin weaving the beads onto the cord following the pattern at the top of the page. You can click on the image for a larger, better resolution photo.
3. After finishing the pattern tie a double knot in the cords at the bottom and apply tacky glue to secure.
4. Three or four beads can be strung onto the end of each cord as a finishing touch (This is optional and not included in the bead count in your material list.)
5. Weave your wire or pipe cleaner through your beaded raccoon keychain to make it stiffer and hold it's shape.
(Seed beads or E beads can be used in place of pony beads to create smaller characters.)
