Did You Know?

Rulers haven't always been marked with the standardized measurements we take for granted today. Early measurements were often based on parts of the human body, giving us units such as the foot, hand and cubit. As standardized systems developed, rulers made it possible to reproduce measurements much more reliably. Flexible tape measures came later, making it practical to measure fabric, bodies, curves and other things a rigid ruler couldn't easily handle. For crafters, having both within reach covers an amazing number of projects.

How To Make It

Position several leaves and a group of the berries together and hot glue to the outside of the nest. Hot glue another single leaf and very small berry group in several places on the opposite side from the large group. Hot glue a single leaf into the inside of the nest. Position the bird in the nest on top of the leaf and hot glue into place.

Test fit the nest into the fillable ornament so that it sits level when suspended from a cord. Use hot glue to secure the nest into the ball in places where the glue is not noticeable.

Snap the ball closed and secure with glue at the bottom where not visible. Tie one piece of gold cord into a bow around the top of the fillable ornament. Thread a 6" piece through the hole, double it and knot the end.
