Beaded Snowman Ornament - Beaded Snowman Key Chain

Make this frosty little snowman to adorn your Christmas tree, to use as window hangers, or add this special friend to your key chain and take the festive holiday icon with you everywhere. They make great school gifts, stocking stuffers, or just as a way to tell someone that you are thinking of them.
Use transparent beads for making ornaments and light catchers. Use opaque colored beads for making keychains. (Instructions are provided for making ornaments.) The transparent beads will capture a sparkle so perfectly. Imagine your entire Christmas tree covered with all of the little pony bead symbols of the season!

If you make this project please share your photos with us. With your permission we'll add it to the page and credit it to you.

Bonus Information You Didn't Ask For
Did You Know?

Your craft scissors may cut jewelry wire or pipe cleaners, but that doesn't mean they should. Wire can nick and dull the cutting edges of ordinary scissors, making them less effective when you go back to cutting paper, ribbon or fabric. Wire cutters are designed to handle metal and are a much better choice for jewelry wire and the wire core inside chenille stems. Save the scissors for the materials they were meant to cut—and they'll stay sharp much longer.

How To Make It

1. Cut a 6 ft piece of wire or cord. For cord find the halfway point on the cord and loop it onto your key ring or ornament hook as suggested in the illustration below. If you are using wire fold the wire in half and with one side make a couple of loops around the other side. See illustration below.

2. Thread your beads onto your wire or cord, according to the pattern guide below. If you need a larger view just click on the image and it will open into a new window. Note that the snowman is done in all one piece.

If you used cord tie a double knot in the end of the cord and apply a dot of craft glue to each knot to secure them. If you used wire, twist together at the bottom and tuck ends into the nearest bead.

If you used wire to build your snowman you can pose your arms so that each one is just a little different. Insert an ornament hook into the loop at the top and hang!

Seed beads or E-beads can be used in place of pony beads to create smaller reindeer.
